HTK Cambodia: Mission
Hile Teuk Kampuchea (HTK) is a dedicated non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on reducing child
drowning and related injuries in Cambodia. HTK aims to create a safer environment for children through
comprehensive water safety education and practical interventions.
HTK's mission is to reduce child drowning and related injuries by educating communities on water safety, drowning
prevention, safe rescue techniques, CPR, and essential swimming skills. Our goal is to ensure that every child in
Cambodia can live safe from drowning.
HTK will teach Water Safety, Safe Rescue and Resuscitation with CPR to children, young people, parents and carers in
classroom and community settings.
In Cambodia, shockingly, drowning is the leading cause of death among children aged 1 to 17 in the country,
responsible for 48% of all fatal injuries in this age group. Approximately 2,000 Cambodian children drown each year,
amounting to about five to six deaths daily. This silent crisis demands immediate attention and concerted efforts.
HTK Cambodia Goal
Our goal is to reduce child drowning and associated injuries through comprehensive water safety education and
swimming training. Our dedicated team of "Water Safety Heroes" conducts drowning awareness classes, teaching
water safety, safe rescue techniques, and CPR to children, parents, and communities throughout Cambodia. Through
partnerships with schools and local authorities, we are tirelessly working to integrate these life-saving skills into the
national curriculum.
Water Skills For Life has established support for HTK and we look forward to helping them to develop their programs
and assist financially into the future.
